PH Tech Data Breach Investigation

Turke & Strauss LLP, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Performance Health Technology, Ltd., which does business as PH Tech, regarding its recent data breach. The PH Tech data breach involved personal identifiable information and protected health information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

ABOUT PERFORMANCE HEALTH TECHNOLOGY, LTD. D/B/A PH TECH:

PH Tech is a software development company based in Oregon. Founded in 1996, PH Tech supports provider sponsored health plans with control over benefits, contracts with providers, medical decisions, care management and population health.2 Today, PH Tech’s services include claims processing, benefit & reimbursement configurations, data, care, utilization, and population management, appeals & grievances, and customer service. Headquartered in Salem, Oregon, PH Tech has an additional location in Portland, Oregon, and employs over 200 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

In June 2023, PH Tech discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which personal identifiable information and protected health information may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, PH Tech determined that an unauthorized party may have accessed this sensitive information through a vulnerability in the MOVEit Transfer file sharing software, which PH Tech utilized, on May 30, 2023. As a result, PH Tech began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Address
  • Email address
  • Plan ID number
  • Member ID number
  • Authorization information
  • Diagnosis code
  • Procedure code 
  • Claim information
