Aveanna Healthcare Data Breach Investigation

Turke & Strauss LLP, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Aveanna Healthcare (“Aveanna”) regarding its recent data breach. The Aveanna data breach involved personal identifiable information and protected health information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

Aveanna is a comprehensive home health care provider based in Georgia. Founded in 2017 through the merger of PSA Healthcare and Epic Health Services, Aveanna offers a range of home healthcare services focusing on pediatric and adult care, including medical solutions, private duty nursing, pediatric therapy, habilitation services, and hospice care. Through its rapidly growing network, Aveanna serves patients in 33 states across more than 300 branch offices, offering a variety of care and services to more than 40,000 children and adults.2 Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, Aveanna employs over 10,000 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Aveanna discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, Aveanna determined that an unauthorized party may have accessed this sensitive information on September 25, 2023. On March 15, 2024, Aveanna began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license or state ID number
  • Date of birth
  • Health insurance information (e.g., Medicare/Medicaid number)
  • Medical information (e.g., diagnosis, treatment information, prescription information, medical record number)
