ACR Electronics Data Breach Investigation

Turke & Strauss LLP, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating ACR Electronics, Inc. (“ACR”) regarding its recent data breach. The ACR data breach involved personal identifiable information and protected health information belonging to over 2,000 individuals.

ACR is a safety and survival product manufacturer based in Florida. Founded in 1956, ACR’s line of products include Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacons (EPIRBs), Personal Locator Beacons (PLBs), ARTEX Emergency Locator Transmitters (ELTs), Search and Rescue Transponders (SARTs), Strobe Lights, Life Jacket Lights, Boat Search Lights, and other associated safety accessories.3 Since its founding, ACR’s wide range of survival products have been the choice of NASA, the U.S. Military, the U.S. Coast Guard, and everyday explorers and adventurers across the globe.4 Headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, ACR employs over 200 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, ACR discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, ACR determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information on October 12, 2023. On March 12, 2024, ACR began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license information
  • Financial account information
  • Medical records
