Turke & Strauss LLP, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Orsini Pharmaceutical Services (“Orsini”) regarding its recent data breach. The Orsini data breach involved personal identifiable information and protected health information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

Orsini is an independent specialty pharmacy based in Illinois. Founded in 1987, Orsini is focused on rare diseases, gene therapies, and complex conditions, offering personalized care to patients based on their specific condition and treatment.2 Today, Orsini’s comprehensive solutions include medication adherence programs, data analytics, customized manufacturer programs, and nationwide nursing coverage for convenient in-home infusion services.2 Headquartered in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, Orsini employs over 200 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Orsini discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, Orsini determined that an unauthorized party may have accessed this sensitive information through an employee’s email account between January 8 and January 10, 2024. As a result, Orsini began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Address
  • Date of birth
  • Medical information (e.g., medical record number, diagnosis, prescription information) 
  • Heath insurance information
