Rebound Orthopedics Data Breach Investigation

Turke & Strauss LLP, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Rebound Orthopedics & Neurosurgery (“Rebound”) regarding its recent data breach. The Rebound data breach involved sensitive personal information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

Rebound is an orthopedic and neurosurgery clinic based in Washington. Founded in 1969, Rebound’s orthopedic specialties consist of high-quality orthopedic care for the ankle, back, elbow, foot, hand, hip, knee, neck, shoulder, spine, and wrist.2 This includes fracture care and trauma orthopedics, sports medicine, and joint replacement in addition to family medicine, physical medicine and rehabilitation, and nonsurgical sports medicine.2 Additionally, Rebound’s team of specialty-trained neurosurgeons offers expert surgical treatment for the brain and nervous system.2 Headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, Rebound has additional locations in Washington and Oregon and employs over 200 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Rebound discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, Rebound determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information on February 2, 2024. On March 7, 2024, Rebound began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The exact type of personal information potentially exposed has not been made publicly available by Rebound. However, according to state reporting guidelines, “personal information” can include the following types of information:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license or state-issued identification number
  • Financial information (e.g., financial account number, credit or debit card number)
  • Medical information
  • Taxpayer ID number
  • Identity protection personal ID number
