First National Bank Data Breach Investigation

Turke & Strauss LLP, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating First Hartford Bancshares, Inc., which does business as First National Bank of Hartford (“First National Bank”), regarding its recent data breach. The First National Bank data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information belonging to over 5,000 individuals.

First National Bank is a community bank based in Alabama. Founded in 1905, First National Bank offers a wide range of financial products and services to individuals and businesses, including checking and savings accounts, credit cards, loans, money market and retirement accounts, and digital banking. Headquartered in Hartford, Alabama, First National Bank has two additional locations in Alabama and employs over 10 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, First National Bank was informed that its third-party vendor, Fiserv, had experienced a data breach in which First National Bank data, including sensitive personal identifiable information, may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, Fiserv determined that an unauthorized party may have accessed this sensitive information through a vulnerability in the MOVEit Transfer file sharing software, which Fiserv uses, between May 27 and May 31, 2023. On February 26, 2024, First National Bank began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Address
  • Date of birth
  • Account number
  • Other account data
