Turke & Strauss LLP, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating FBinsure, LLC regarding a recent data breach. The FBinsure data breach involved sensitive personal information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

FBinsure is an insurance company based in Massachusetts. Founded in 1858, FBinsure offers a wide range of insurance products to individuals, including auto, homeowners, life, motorcycle/classic car, renter/condo, boat/marine, flood, and wedding insurance. Additionally, FBinsure provides insurance solutions for businesses, such as general liability insurance, surety bonds, builder’s risk insurance, and cyber and data breach liability insurance. Headquartered in Taunton, Massachusetts, FBinsure has 11 additional locations in Massachusetts and employs over 50 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, FBinsure discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal information may have been accessed. On February 20, 2024, FBinsure began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The exact type of personal information potentially exposed has not been made publicly available by FBinsure. However, according to state reporting guidelines, “personal information” can include the following types of information:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license or state-issued ID card number
  • Financial account number, or credit or debit card number, with or without any required security code
