Shorehill Capital Data Breach Investigation

Turke & Strauss LLP, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Shorehill Capital LLC (“Shorehill”) regarding its recent data breach. The Shorehill data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information belonging to an undetermined number of employees.

Shorehill is a private equity firm based in Illinois. Founded in 2013, Shorehill is focused on making control equity investments in North American engineered industrial products, industrial services, and value-added distribution companies with enterprise values ranging from $20 million to $150 million, and add-ons of any size.2 Additionally, Shorehill seeks opportunities with differentiated business models where its experience, network and investment management approach can have a significant impact on the performance of the business.2 Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, Shorehill employs over 10 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On November 30, 2023, Shorehill was informed that its payroll vendor, Paycor, Inc., had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, Paycor determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information through a vulnerability in the MOVEit Transfer file sharing software that Paycor uses. On February 15, 2024, Shorehill began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
