Crossroads for Women Data Breach Investigation

Turke & Strauss LLP, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Crossroads for Women (“Crossroads”) regarding its recent data breach. The Crossroads data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

ABOUT CROSSROADS FOR WOMEN:

Crossroads is a behavioral health and addiction treatment center based in Maine. Founded in 1974, Crossroads provides gender-responsive treatment programs that enable clients to recover from addiction and eating disorders in a safe, supportive environment and develop the skills and strategies necessary to support long-term recovery.2 Additionally, Crossroads’ co-occurring treatment programs address the needs of family members to build healthy relationships and help everyone heal with the impact of substance use and mental health disorders in a constructive way.2 Located in Scarborough, Maine, Crossroads employs over 50 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Crossroads discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information may have been accessed. Through its investigation, Crossroads determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information through one of its business email accounts on August 25, 2023. On January 17, 2024, Crossroads began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Medical information
  • Health information
  • Medical insurance information
