Columbus Aesthetic and Plastic Surgery Data Breach Investigation

Turke & Strauss LLP, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Columbus Aesthetic and Plastic Surgery (“CAPS”) regarding its recent data breach. The CAPS data breach involved sensitive personal information and protected health information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

ABOUT COLUMBUS AESTHETIC AND PLASTIC SURGERY:

CAPS is a cosmetic and plastic surgery practice based in Ohio. Founded in 1998, CAPS offers a range of cosmetic procedures, including body contouring, face and brow lift, rhinoplasty, breast augmentation and reduction, skin treatment, and hair restoration. Additionally, CAPS provides medical spa and dermatology services to enhance appearance, correct skin concerns, and reverse signs of aging. Headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, CAPS has an additional location in Gahanna, Ohio and employs over 50 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, CAPS discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, CAPS determined that an unauthorized party accessed this sensitive information between September 9 and September 15, 2023. On January 31, 2024, CAPS began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license, state, or government ID number
  • Financial account information
  • Health/medical information
  • Treatment information
  • Medical treatment payment information
