Sage Home Loans Data Breach Investigation

Turke & Strauss LLP, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Sage Home Loans Corporation f/k/a Lenox Financial Mortgage Corporation d/b/a Weslend Financial (“Sage Home Loans”) regarding its recent data breach. The Sage Home Loans data breach involved sensitive personal information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

Sage Home Loans Corporation was formerly known as Lenox Financial Mortgage Corporation, which did business as Weslend Financial. Founded in 1999, Sage Home Loans is an online mortgage company specializing in home purchase and refinance solutions. Headquartered in Fort Mill, South Carolina, Sage Home Loans employs over 50 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On December 19, 2023, Sage Home Loans discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which personal information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, Sage Home Loans determined that an unauthorized party may have accessed this sensitive information between December 5 and December 19, 2023. On February 2, 2024, Sage Home Loans began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The exact type of personal information potentially exposed has not been made publicly available by Sage Home Loans. However, according to state reporting guidelines, “personal information” can include the following types of information:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license, State ID card, tax ID, passport or military ID number
  • Financial information (e.g., account number, credit or debit card number)
  • Medical information
  • Health insurance information
  • Unique biometric data
  • Genetic data
