National Advisors Trust Data Breach Investigation

Turke & Strauss LLP, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating National Advisors Trust regarding its recent data breach. The National Advisors Trust data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information belonging to over 14,000 individuals.

A family of companies, National Advisors Trust is comprised of the following entities: National Advisors Trust Company (“NATC”), one of the largest independent national trust companies; National Advisors Trust of South Dakota, Inc. (“NATSD”), which provides trust services and solutions to RIAs for their clients who wish to take advantage of South Dakota’s unique trust jurisdiction opportunities for protecting and passing on wealth; and National Advisors Concierge Services, which provides third-party services to clients of NATC and NATSD. Today, National Advisors Trust has advisor relationships with over 800 wealth management firms and nearly 6,900 advisors, resulting in $8 billion in total assets under administration as of December 2023.3

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, National Advisors Trust discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, National Advisors Trust determined that an unauthorized third party may have accessed this sensitive information through four employee email accounts on or about April 17, 2023. On February 2, 2024, National Advisors Trust began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license or state ID number
  • Financial account number
