WHAT HAPPENED?

On January 16, 2024, Kestra Financial discovered that one of its independent contractor offices experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal information may have been accessed and acquired. The incident investigation determined that an unauthorized party may have accessed this sensitive information on or around January 10, 2024. On January 26, 2024, Kestra Financial began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The exact type of personal information potentially exposed has not been made publicly available by Kestra Financial. However, according to state reporting guidelines, “personal information” can include the following types of information:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license or state issued ID number
  • Financial information (e.g., financial account number, credit or debit card number)
