Ricoh USA Data Breach Investigation

Turke & Strauss LLP, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Ricoh USA, Inc. regarding its recent data breach. The Ricoh USA data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information belonging to over 1,200 individuals.

In addition, Rioch USA and its subsidiaries produce copiers, circuit boards, peripherals, and parts for printers.2 A Fortune 500 company, Rioch USA counts over 1.4 million business as customers, including 84% of the Fortune 500 list.3 Headquartered in Exton, Pennsylvania, Rioch USA employs approximately 90,000 individuals and has locations across the United States.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On May 31, 2023, Ricoh USA discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, Ricoh USA determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information through a vulnerability in the MOVEit file sharing platform on May 31, 2023. On September 21, 2023, Ricoh USA began contacting individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Medical information
