Mativ Holdings Data Breach Investigation

Established in 1995, Mativ Holdings operates two company divisions: the Advanced Technical Materials segment and the Fiber-Based Solutions segment. Products manufactured by Mativ Holdings include critical components for air filtration systems, skin-friendly adhesive products, and specialty papers for consumer applications. Headquartered in Alpharetta, Georgia, Mativ Holdings manufactures its products on four continents and employs an international workforce of more than 7,500 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Mativ Holdings discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed. Mativ Holdings’ investigation determined that, in June and July 2022, an unauthorized actor may have accessed the sensitive information belonging to certain employees of two companies in the Mativ Holdings’ group, Schweitzer-Mauduit International, Inc. and Scapa Group, Ltd. On October 6, 2022, Mativ Holdings began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Financial information (e.g., account number, credit or debit card number)
  • Medical information
