Software Systems is a software development company based in Indiana. Founded in 1976, Software Systems provides data processing solutions for the education market with the long-term goal of being the primary supplier of administrative and academic software solutions for school corporations in the State of Indiana.2 Today, Software Systems’ flagship product, the FMS (Financial Management System), is designed, built, and maintained to help Indiana school corporations with their financial accounting and payroll activities/functions.2 Headquartered in Greenwood, Indiana, Software Systems has one location.

WHAT HAPPENED?

In October 2023, Software Systems discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, Software Systems determined that an unauthorized party may have accessed this sensitive information between September 29, 2023, and October 13, 2023. On November 20, 2023, Software Systems began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
