Multi-Fineline Electronix Data Breach Investigation

Turke & Strauss LLP, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Multi-Fineline Electronix, Inc. (“MFLEX”) regarding its recent data breach. The MFLEX data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

MFLEX is a flexible printed circuit board manufacturer based in California. Founded in 1984, MFLEX is one of a limited number of manufacturers that provides a seamless, integrated end-to-end flexible printed circuit solution for customers, ranging from design and application engineering, prototyping and high-volume manufacturing.3 Current applications for MFLEX products include computer/data storage, portable bar code scanners, personal computers, wearables, medical, automotive, industrial and other consumer electronic devices.3 Headquartered in Irvine, California, MFLEX has additional locations in the Unted States, Europe, and Asia.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On or about January 31, 2024, MFLEX discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, MFLEX determined that an unauthorized party may have accessed this sensitive information between December 1, 2022, and January 2, 2023. Recently, MFLEX began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Driver’s license, state ID, or passport number
  • Financial information (e.g., financial account number, account access information, payment card number, payment card access information)
  • Medical information (e.g., medical treatment and diagnosis)
  • Health insurance information
