Neste US Data Breach Investigation

Turke & Strauss LLP, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Neste US, Inc. (“Neste”) regarding its recent data breach. The Neste data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

ABOUT NESTE US, INC.:

Neste is a renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel company. Founded in 1948, Neste was an oil and gas producer before transforming into a leading producer of sustainable aviation fuel, renewable diesel, and renewable feedstock solutions for various polymers and chemicals industry uses. Today, Neste aims to develop chemical recycling technology and capacity to turn plastic waste into high-quality products in order to combat plastic waste, with the goal of reaching carbon neutral production by 2035.2 Headquartered in Espoo, Finland, Neste employs over 5,000 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On November 30, 2023, Neste was informed that its vendor, Paycor Inc., which provides Neste with payroll management and human resources services, experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, Paycor determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information through a vulnerability in the MOVEit Transfer file sharing software, which Paycor uses, on May 31, 2023. On December 27, 2023, Neste began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
