ZOLL Medical Corporation Data Breach Investigation

Turke & Strauss LLP, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating ZOLL Medical Corporation (“ZOLL”) regarding its recent data breach. The ZOLL data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information belonging to over 15,000 individuals.

ZOLL is a medical equipment manufacturing company based in Massachusetts. Founded in 1980, Zoll develops and markets medical devices and software solutions, including products defibrillation and monitoring, circulation and CPR feedback, data management, therapeutic temperature management, and ventilation. Today, ZOLL’s comprehensive set of technologies are used worldwide to diagnose and treat patients suffering from serious cardiopulmonary and respiratory conditions.  Headquartered in Chelmsford, Massachusetts, ZOLL is an Asahi Kasei Group company, and employes over 3,400 people.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, ZOLL discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, ZOLL determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information via an email phishing attack. On December 18, 2023, ZOLL began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Address
  • Protected health information
  • Health insurance information
