Jersey College Data Breach Investigation

Turke & Strauss LLP, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Jersey College regarding its recent data breach. The Jersey College data breach involved sensitive personal information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

ABOUT JERSEY COLLEGE:

Jersey College is a private postsecondary nursing college founded in 2003. Combining classroom theory with clinical practice, Jersey College offers both a Practical Nursing (LPN) program and a Professional Nursing (RN) program.2 Additionally, Jersey College offers an open curriculum system, which provides flexible opportunities for students to enter, exit, and graduate at different points. 3 With a primary campus in Teterboro, New Jersy, Jersey College has 17 other nursing school campuses in Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Indiana, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On January 25, 2023, Jersey College discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, Jersey College determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed and acquired this sensitive information between January 11 and January 25, 2023. On December 5, 2023, Jersey College began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The exact type of personal information potentially exposed has not been made publicly available by Taylor University. However, according to state reporting guidelines, “personal information” can include the following types of information:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license number or state identification card number
  • Financial account, credit card, or debit card number in combination with security code, access code, or password
  • Username and email address in combination with password
