Cinfed Federal Credit Union Data Breach Investigation

Turke & Strauss LLP, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Cinfed Federal Credit Union regarding its recent data breach. The Cinfed Credit Union data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information belonging to over 57,000 individuals.

Located in Cincinnati, Ohio, Cinfed Credit Union is a credit union that serves 17 counties across Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana. Anyone that can show they live, work, worship, go to school, or regularly do business in the greater Cincinnati area can become a member of Cinfed Credit Union.3 Cinfed Credit Union offers a variety of services, including checking and savings accounts, mortgages, loans, credit cards, investment services, health savings accounts, and insurance services. Founded in 1934, Cinfed Credit Union began as a credit union for employees of a local chapter of the Federation of Federal Employees Union. Today, Cinfed Credit Union has 9 branch locations and employs approximately 130 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Cinfed Credit Union discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, Cinfed Credit Union determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information between September 22 and September 25, 2023. On November 9, 2023, Cinfed Credit Union began contacting individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes: 

  • Name 
  • Social Security number 
  • Financial account number
