SBM Management Services Data Breach Investigation

Turke & Strauss LLP, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating SBM Management Services, LP regarding its recent data breach. The SBM data breach involved sensitive personal information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

ABOUT SBM MANAGEMENT, LP:

SBM is a facilities service provider based in California. Founded in 1982, SBM offers a variety of building maintenance solutions, including cleaning services, maintenance programs, waste management, landscaping, pest control, painting, and plumbing. Supporting over 600 sites across the United States, Latin America, and Asia, SBM’s client base is comprised of a multitude of Fortune 500 companies such as Microsoft, Amazon, Johnson & Johnson, and Nike. Headquartered in McClellan, California, SBM has 10 locations in the United States, Costa Rica, and Singapore, and employs 12,000 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On or around June 28, 2023, SBM discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, SBM determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information between April 24, 2023, and June 28, 2023. On October 27, 2023, SBM began contacting individuals whose information may have been impacted. The exact type of personal information has not been made publicly available by SBM. However, according to state reporting guidelines, “personal information” can include the following types of information:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license number
  • Financial information
  • Medical information 
  • Taxpayer information
  • Personal identification number issued by the United States IRS
