AvidXchange Data Breach Investigation

Turke & Strauss LLP, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating AvidXchange, Inc. regarding its recent data breach. The AvidXchange data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information belonging to over 6,400 individuals.

ABOUT AVIDXCHANGE, INC.:

AvidXchange is a software development company offering automatic payment solutions for businesses. As a software provider, AvidXchange helps businesses automate payments to its vendors and suppliers through a variety of applications, including AvidBuy, AvidPay, AvidUtility, and AvidInvoice. Founded in 2000, AvidXchange began with the goal of helping middle market companies manage their finances. Today, AvidXchange provides its services to over 8,800 businesses and has processed over $200 billion in payments. Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, AvidXchange employs approximately 1,600 individuals and has annual revenue of over $300 million.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On April 3, 2023, AvidXchange discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, AvidXchange determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed and acquired this sensitive information on March 3, 2022. Additionally, between May 2 and May 31, 2023, the unauthorized actor published some of the sensitive data it acquired from AvidExchange on the dark web. On October 13, 2023, AvidXchange began contacting individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Financial account number
  • Credit and debit card numbers
  • Account password
