Nice Pak Products Data Breach Investigation

Turke & Strauss LLP, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Nice Pak Products, Inc. and Professional Disposables International, Inc. (“Nice Pak”), regarding their recent data breach. The Nice Pak data breach involved sensitive personal information and protected health information belonging to over 8,500 individuals.

ABOUT NICE PACK PRODUCTS, INC. AND PROFESSIONAL DISPOSABLES INTERNATIONAL, INC.:

Nice Pak specializes in the design, production, and sale of pre-moistened wet wipes. Accordingly, Nice Pak produces wet wipes for many different applications and fields, including the commercial, consumer, healthcare, and food service markets. With products such as Original Wet-Nap®, Nice ‘N CLEAN® and GRIME BOSS®, Nice Pak is a dominant force in the wet wipe market and is currently the largest producer of wet wipes in the world.4 Founded in 1957, Nice Pak was formed by Arthur Julius, the inventor of the wet wipe. Headquartered in Orangeburg, New York, Nice Pak has two additional facilities in Arkansas and Indiana as well as facilities in the United Kingdom and Germany.

Professional Disposables International, or PDI, is an infection prevention company and sister company of Nice Pak. Divided into three divisions—PDI Healthcare, Sani Professional, and PDI Contract Manufacturing—PDI offers innovative products, educational resources, and training and support to prevent infection transmission and promote health and wellness.5 Founded in 1977, PDI has developed a number of important innovations to help fight preventable infections, such as the first alcohol prep pad and germicidal disposable wipes.6 Headquartered in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey, PDI employes over 1,000 people.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On June 15, 2023, Nice Pak experienced a breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, Nice Pak determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information between May 28, 2023, and June 15, 2023. On August 14, 2023, Nice Pak began contacting individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Address
  • Health insurance information
