WHAT HAPPENED?
On April 2, 2023, VelocitySBA discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, VelocitySBA determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information by launching a ransomware attack on April 1, 2023. On September 11, 2023, VelocitySBA began contacting individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license number
- Date of birth
- Address
- Contact information (e.g., phone number, email address)
- Tax information (e.g., tax returns, tax forms, taxpayer identification number)
- Financial information (e.g., financial statements, financial account numbers, financial account access code or password)
- Credit report information (e.g., credit score, credit history)
