Turke & Strauss LLP, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating VelocitySBA, LLC regarding its recent data breach. The VelocitySBA data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

VelocitySBA is a financial services company specializing in small business loans. Through its SBA loan program, VelocitySBA offers a variety of small business financing solutions, including real estate loans, equipment loans, working capital, debt refinancing, and business acquisition and partner buyout strategies. Formerly known as Crossroads Small Business Solutions, VelocitySBA invests in cutting edge lending technology to serve small business owners across the United States. Headquartered in Pasadena, California, VelocitySBA operates two satellite offices in Costa Mesa, California and Irving, Texas.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On April 2, 2023, VelocitySBA discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, VelocitySBA determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information by launching a ransomware attack on April 1, 2023. On September 11, 2023, VelocitySBA began contacting individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license number
  • Date of birth
  • Address
  • Contact information (e.g., phone number, email address)
  • Tax information (e.g., tax returns, tax forms, taxpayer identification number)
  • Financial information (e.g., financial statements, financial account numbers, financial account access code or password)
  • Credit report information (e.g., credit score, credit history)
