Forever 21 Data Breach Investigation

Turke & Strauss LLP, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Forever 21 regarding its recent data breach. The Forever 21 data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information belonging to over 539,000 individuals.


Forever 21 is a fashion retailer headquartered in Los Angeles, California, offering a diverse selection of clothing, accessories, and beauty products for women, men, and children. Founded in 1984 by Do Won Chang and Jin Sook Chang, Forever 21 is known for its trendy and affordable clothing. Originally named Fashion 21, Forever 21 started with a single store location in Highland Park, Los Angeles. Today, Forever 21 operates both brick and mortar stores as well as an online e-commerce store. In 2019, Forever 21 filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and, in 2020, came under new ownership. After emerging from bankruptcy, Forever 21’s new ownership group relaunched its online store in 30 countries and forged new partnerships and collaborations with JCPenny, Hervé Léger, Sports Illustrated, and Barbie. With over 540 locations globally, Forever 21 employs over 30,000 individuals.


On March 20, 2023, Forever 21 experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, Forever 21 determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information between January 5 and March 21, 2023. On August 29, 2023, Forever 21 began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Bank account number
  • Health insurance information
