Cornerstone Energy Services Data Breach Investigation

Founded in 2012, Cornerstone Energy Services is headquartered in Worcester, Massachusetts, and has licensed surveyors in 12 states and licensed engineers in 16 states. Throughout its U.S. offices, Cornerstone Energy Services employs approximately 90 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On August 11, 2023, Cornerstone Energy Services discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, Cornerstone Energy Services determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information through a ransomware attack on July 25, 2023. On August 17, 2023, Cornerstone Energy Services began contacting individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license number
  • Passport number
  • Benefit enrollment information
