WHAT HAPPENED?

On June 2, 2023, Aurora National Life Assurance Company discovered that Pension Benefit Information, LLC (“PBI”), a vendor of Aurora National Life Assurance Company’s third-party administrator, Alliance-One, Inc., experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information belonging to Aurora National Life Assurance Company customers may have been accessed. Through its investigation, PBI determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed the sensitive information belonging to Aurora National Life Assurance Company’s clients through a vulnerability in the MOVEit file transfer platform used by PBI to serve Alliance-One between May 29 and May 30, 2023. On July 21, 2023, Aurora National Life Assurance Company began contacting individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Demographic information
  • Zip code information
  • PBI account numbers
