Newfields Data Breach Investigation

Turke & Strauss LLP, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Indianapolis Museum of Art d/b/a Newfields regarding its recent data breach. The Newfields data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information belonging to over 1,800 individuals.

Newfields is an art museum and historical site located in Indianapolis, Indiana. As an art and entertainment facility, Newfields offers art galleries, flower gardens, historic locations, and nature parks. With 152 acres, Newfields in one of the largest art museums in the United States. Founded in 1883, Newfields began when its first exhibition was opened with over 450 works by various artists. Today, Newfields has grown and expanded into an art complex with a wide range of exhibits. Located in northern Indianapolis, Newfields serves over 367,000 individuals annually and employs approximately 400 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On June 3, 2023, Newfields discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, Newfields determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information between May 12 and June 4, 2023. On July 6, 2023, Newfields began contacting individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Driver’s license number
  • Health insurance information
  • Medical information
