Leidos Data Breach Investigation

Turke & Strauss LLP, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Leidos, Inc. regarding its recent data breach. Leidos conducts business with a third-party software vendor, Diligent Corporation, that recently experienced a data breach exposing sensitive information belonging to Leidos. The Leidos and Diligent Corporation data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.


Leidos is an information technology services and consulting company serving the civil, defense, healthcare, and intelligence markets. Accordingly, Leidos’ portfolio of services includes supporting vital missions for the government and commercial sector, developing innovative solutions, and defending our digital and physical infrastructure. Specifically, Leidos assists with airport and border security; cybersecurity; power delivery; airborne intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance; electronic warfare; weapons technology; electronic health record implementation, optimization, and modernization; enterprise IT, systems integration, and network modernization, data analytics; and bioinformatics. In 2016, Leidos merged with Lockheed Martin’s Information Systems & Global Solutions Business and formed the largest IT services provider for the defense industry. Some of Leidos’ primary customers include Customs & Border Protection, Department of Energy, Department of Justice, NASA, U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Defense Health Agency, Department of Defense, Health and Human Services, Department of Veterans Affairs, Federal Bureau of Investigation, National Security Agency (NSA), and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. Founded in 1969 by Dr. J. Robert Beyster, today, Leidos has grown into a global Fortune 500 company employing 45,000 individuals. Leidos is headquartered in Reston, Virginia and has annual revenue of $14.4 billion.


On November 11, 2022, Leidos’ software vendor, Diligent Corporation, notified Leidos that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems belonging to Leidos may have been accessed and obtained. Through their investigation, Leidos and Diligent Corporation determined that an unauthorized actor accessed and acquired this sensitive information as early as September 30, 2022. On February 9, 2023, Diligent Corporation notified Leidos of a second, separate data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information belonging to Leidos may have been accessed. Diligent Corporation determined that Leidos’ sensitive information may have been accessed in this second data breach as early as October 1, 2022. On June 9, 2023, Leidos and Diligent Corporation began contacting individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
