National Powersport Auctions Data Breach Investigation

Turke & Strauss LLP, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Cycle Express, LLC, which does business as National Powersport Auctions, regarding its recent data breach. The National Powersport Auctions data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information belonging to over 8,100 individuals.

Additionally, National Powersport Auctions specializes in remarketing services, consignment sales, simulcast bidding, and live auctions. Founded in 1990, National Powersport Auctions offers a range of vehicles, such as motorcycles, boats, golf cars, RVs, and more. Headquartered in Poway, California, National Powersport Auctions operates 9 satellite locations in Atlanta, Cincinnati, Dallas, Denver, Lakeland, Philadelphia, Portland, Sacramento, and San Diego.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On April 28, 2023, National Powersport Auctions discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, National Powersport Auctions determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information on or around February 21, 2023. On May 15, 2023, National Powersport Auctions began contacting individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license number or non-driver identification card number
