Nurx Pixel Data Breach Investigation

Turke & Strauss LLP, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Propel Network, LLC, which does business as Nurx, regarding its recent data breach. The Nurx data breach involved sensitive personal information and protected health information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

Nurx is a telemedicine company providing a variety of online healthcare services, including consultations, prescription fulfillment, treatments, and insurance services. As a Thirty Madison company, Nurx offers birth control prescriptions, emergency contraception, skincare treatments, mental health resources, at home testing kits, women’s health services, and more. Founded in 2015, Nurx partners with 3 major brands, TaskRabbit, CareDash, and Stride, to meet clients’ healthcare needs. Headquartered in San Francisco, California, Nurx operates 2 satellite locations in Syracuse, New York, and Miami, Florida, and conducts business globally.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Nurx discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. The data breach involved sensitive personal information and protected health information of members of CVS Specialty, Inc., who may have used Nurx’s website to obtain certain services and medication. Nurx disclosed that an online information tracking pixel installed on its website collected and transmitted this protected health information to the third parties providing the pixel technology, including Google, Meta (Facebook), and TikTok, between November 1, 2021, and December 22, 2022. On April 20, 2023, Nurx began contacting individuals who may have been affected. The type of information impacted includes: 

  • Name
  • Contact information (e.g., phone number, email address)
  • Identification number
  • IP address
  • Page views (e.g., website URL)
  • Medical information
