BJA Partners Data Breach Investigation

Turke & Strauss LLP, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Brooks Jucha & Associates Insurance Services, Inc., which does business as BJA Partners, regarding its recent data breach. BJA Partners provides insurance consulting and brokerage services to AP Wireless, Bruce J. Sachs, MD, PC, First Choice Bank/Enterprise, Foster Walsh, Hermanson Guzman & Wang, Herring Law Group, P.C., La Costa Limousine, Rancho Valencia Resort Partners LLC, SimulStat Incorporated, Sullivan Mcgibbons Crickard & Assoc LLP, Temple Solel, Walsh Law Firm APC, and Young, Zinn & Bate LLP. The BJA Partners data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

BJA Partners is a full-service insurance brokerage. Founded in 1983, BJA Partners began by selling employee benefits packages, expanding its product line over the next two decades after a series of mergers and acquisitions. Today, BJA Partners offers everything from commercial and property insurance to auto and life insurance. Additionally, BJA Partners provides consulting services in wealth management and financial planning. Headquartered in San Diego, California, BJA Partners conducts business with a wide variety of insurance organizations and strategic partnerships.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On or about June 2, 2022, BJA Partners discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, BJA Partners determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information. On February 17, 2023, BJA Partners began contacting individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license number
  • Address
  • Date of birth
  • Financial information (e.g., account number, credit or debit card number)
  • Username or password information
  • Digital signature
  • Health insurance information
  • Medical information
