WHAT HAPPENED?

On December 4, 2022, Howard Memorial Hospital discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, Howard Memorial Hospital determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information between November 14 and December 4, 2022. On December 29, 2022, Howard Memorial Hospital posted a notice of the data breach on its website, which states that it will send notice to impacted individuals once its investigation is complete. The type of information exposed includes:

  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Medical information (e.g., medical record number, medical history, diagnosis, treatment information, etc.)
  • Health insurance information
  • Direct deposit information
