AIR Asset Management Data Breach Investigation

Turke & Strauss LLP, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Alternative Investment Resource, LLC, which does business as AIR Asset Management, regarding its recent data breach. The AIR Asset Management data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

AIR Asset Management is a hedge fund and asset management firm. Founded in 2014, AIR Asset Management leverages non-traditional and alternative investment strategies to reap high returns for its clients. Additionally, AIR Asset Management prioritizes socially responsible investment and risk management through longevity-based asset classes. Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, AIR Asset Management employs 16 individuals to manage more than $500 million in assets.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On March 28, 2022, AIR Asset Management discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, AIR Asset Management determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information through two employee email accounts between January 22 and March 28, 2022. On October 13, 2022, AIR Asset Management began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The exact type of personal information has not been disclosed by AIR Asset Management. However, according to state reporting guidelines, “personal information” can include the following types of information:

  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license number
  • Financial information
  • Medical information
  • Taxpayer information
  • Personal identification number issued by the United States IRS
