SCA Pharmaceuticals Data Breach Investigation

Turke & Strauss LLP, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating SCA Pharmaceuticals, LLC, which does business as SCA Pharma, regarding its recent data breach. The SCA Pharmaceuticals data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information belonging to approximately 1,900 individuals.

SCA Pharmaceuticals is an FDA 503B outsourcing facility and provider of sterile admixtures and pre-filled syringes to hospitals and health systems nationwide. In its two state-of-the art sterile compounding facilities in Arkansas and Connecticut, SCA Pharmaceuticals prepares customized sterile pharmaceuticals for its customers. SCA Pharmaceuticals’ Little Rock, Arkansas facility was one of the first labs to fully qualify rapid sterility testing in the 503B industry. Headquartered in Little Rock, Arkansas, SCA Pharmaceuticals employs over 500 people in its facilities plus a team of sales representatives across the country.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On July 5, 2022, SCA Pharmaceuticals experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, SCA Pharmaceuticals determined that an unauthorized actor infected some of its systems with malware, which caused temporary operational issues. On August 29, 2022, SCA Pharmaceuticals began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted, including all current and former employees, vendors, and individual investors. The type of information exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Other governmental identifiers
  • Health information
  • Bank account information
