WHAT HAPPENED?

On October 20, 2021, Georgia Bone & Joint Surgeons discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, Georgia Bone & Joint Surgeons determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information between October 15 and October 20, 2021. On August 23, 2022, Georgia Bone & Joint Surgeons began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The exact type of personal information has not been made publicly available by Georgia Bone & Joint Surgeons. However, according to state reporting guidelines, “personal information” can include the following types of information:
