Service by Medallion Data Breach Investigation

Turke & Strauss LLP, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Service by Medallion, Inc., regarding its recent data breach. The Service by Medallion data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information belonging to an undisclosed number of current and former employees.

ABOUT SERVICE BY MEDALLION, INC.:

Service by Medallion is a facilities maintenance and cleaning service in the San Francisco Bay Area of California. Founded by a Chilean immigrant and janitor in 1978, Service by Medallion began by simply offering contracted janitorial and cleaning services. Eventually, Service by Medallion expanded into maintenance, consulting, and construction. Today, Service by Medallion specializes in daily disinfecting and cleaning services, construction site cleanup, and tenant supplies maintenance. Headquartered in Mountain View, California, Service by Medallion employs over 500 individuals to work out of three branch offices around the Bay Area.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On January 5, 2022, Service by Medallion discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, Service by Medallion determined that an unauthorized actor may have gained access to this sensitive information through employee email accounts between August 21, 2021 and January 16, 2022. On August 16, 2022, Service by Medallion began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
