Brasseler USA Data Breach Investigation

Turke & Strauss LLP, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Peter Brasseler Holdings, LLC and its subsidiaries, Brasseler U.S.A. Dental, LLC and Brasseler U.S.A. Medical, LLC, which do business as Brasseler USA, regarding its recent data breach. Brasseler USA is a medical equipment manufacturer specializing in providing dental hygiene instruments. Brasseler USA offers more than 15,000 different products for dentists and dental hygienists to choose from, including equipment for everyday cleaning, orthodontics, dental surgery, and more. Founded in 1976, Brasseler USA is known for manufacturing high quality dental diamond burs and carbide rotary instruments. Headquartered in Savannah, Georgia, Brasseler USA employs over 200 individuals in administrative, sales, manufacturing, and research and design positions.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On June 24, 2022, Brasseler USA experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, Brasseler USA determined that an unauthorized actor may have gained access to this sensitive information in a ransomware attack. On August 17, 2022, Brasseler USA began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:

  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Driver’s license number
  • Passport number
  • Health insurance information
  • Financial information (e.g., account number, debit or credit card number)
  • Health insurance information
  • Medical information
