Ardagh Group has 29 locations in the United States, including both glass and metal production facilities. On May 2, 2021, Ardagh Group discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its system was have been accessed. Ardagh Group disclosed that the data breach was a ransomware attack that encrypted portions of its network in the United States and Europe. Through its investigation, Ardagh Group determined that the personal identifiable information in its system may have been exposed between April 23, 2021, and May 19, 2021. Additionally, in October 2021, Ardagh Group learned that data taken from its system was posted on the dark web. On July 5, 2022, Ardagh Group began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license number
- Passport number or other governmental identification number
- Birth certificate
- Financial account number
- Work-related injury information
