Alogent Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLCa leading data breach law firm, is investigating Alogent Holdings, Inc. (“Alogent”) regarding its recent data breach. The Alogent data breach involved sensitive personal information belonging to over 4.5 million individuals.

ABOUT ALOGENT HOLDINGS, INC.:

Alogent is a software development company based in Georgia. Founded in 1995, Alogent helps financial institutions of all sizes – including credit unions, community banks, and some of the largest national and international institutions – reduce costs, increase transaction processing efficiencies, generate revenue, mitigate fraud, and optimize the user experience from any point of presentment.2 Today, Alogent’s end-to-end check payment processing, digital, online, and mobile banking, and enterprise content and information management platforms address an institution’s entire transaction “ecosystem” — from capturing and digitizing transaction data, to exception tracking, automating workflows, and making information available across the enterprise.2 Headquartered in Peachtree Corners, Georgia, Alogent has three additional locations and employs over 200 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On March 31, 2023, Alogent discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal information related to checks processed through Alogent’s customer, Huntington Bank, may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, Alogent determined that an unauthorized party may have accessed this sensitive information through a vulnerability in the MOVEit Transfer file sharing software, which Alogent uses, between May 30, 2023, and June 1, 2023. On August 14, 2023, Alogent began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Phone number
  • Account and routing numbers
  • Check payee and remittance amount
