William Jewell College Data Breach Investigation

Turke & Strauss LLP, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating William Jewell College (“WJC”) regarding its recent data breach. The WJC data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information belonging to over 4,000 individuals.


WJC is a private liberal arts college located in Liberty, Missouri. Founded in 1849, WJC offers over 50 majors, minors, and programs across a variety of academic interests, including arts & culture, business, education, engineering, health & human services, marketing & communications, performing arts, science, social services, technology, writing, and more. Competing in Division II of the NCAA as the Cardinals, WJC has 24 intercollegiate athletic teams and employs more than 200 individuals.


Recently, WJC discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed. On January 29, 2024, WJC began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
